The present study explores the multifaceted relationship between engagement in sports and physical activities and the overall health and well-being of university students. In contemporary higher education settings, students are increasingly exposed to sedentary lifestyles and academic pressures, which may adversely affect their physical, psychological, and social health. This article emphasizes the significance of regular physical activity as a preventive and promotive measure for physical fitness, mental resilience, and social interaction among students. By synthesizing current research findings and empirical evidence, the study underscores the role of structured sports programs and extracurricular physical activities in fostering holistic student development. The research also highlights the challenges and barriers to participation in sports, including time constraints, lack of motivation, and inadequate institutional support, proposing strategies to enhance engagement and optimize health outcomes. Ultimately, the article aims to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for integrating sports and physical activity into university curricula and campus life to improve students’ physical and mental well-being.
