Gender Specificity of Contemporary Uzbek Anthroponyms: Structural-Semantic and Linguocultural Aspects

The article examines the gender specificity of contemporary Uzbek anthroponyms from structural-semantic and linguocultural perspectives. The study is based on a combination of descriptive, structural-semantic, componential, comparative, and quantitative methods. Semantically, male names are characterized by a pronounced concentration of religious-precedent motivation, whereas the female naming repertoire, alongside religious semantics, displays a higher degree of semantic differentiation and includes moral-ethical, aesthetic, and natural meanings. It is concluded that the gender specificity of contemporary Uzbek anthroponymy is a multilayered phenomenon shaped by the interaction of name structure, semantics, cultural memory, religious tradition, and current naming preferences in society.
