The present study investigates direct and indirect speech strategies employed in expressing invitation meaning in English and Uzbek languages. Invitation is regarded as a communicative speech act through which the speaker encourages the addressee to participate in a future activity, event, or interaction. Drawing upon Speech Act Theory, cross-cultural pragmatics, and politeness theory, the article explores the linguistic forms and pragmatic functions of invitation strategies in the two languages. The analysis demonstrates that both English and Uzbek speakers employ direct and indirect invitations; however, their frequency and communicative value differ according to sociocultural norms.
