Abstract

The teaching of European Studies requires pedagogical approaches that integrate linguistic analysis, cultural interpretation, historical understanding, political discourse, and contemporary social issues. Traditional instructional methods may provide essential background knowledge but can offer limited opportunities for students to investigate how European identities, social values, and public narratives are represented through authentic language. This paper proposes a corpus-based pedagogical framework that combines digital text analysis, contextual reading, comparative interpretation, and guided inquiry to enhance European Studies education. The proposed framework draws on the supplied materials, including journalistic discourse, literary resources, interviews, digital recordings, and corpus-analysis platforms such as AntConc and Sketch Engine. A conceptual research-and-review methodology is used to examine how these resources can be organized into a structured teaching model. The paper develops a five-stage instructional process involving corpus construction, linguistic exploration, contextual interpretation, comparative analysis, and reflective assessment. Particular attention is given to gender representation, national identity, cultural memory, and narratives of conflict. The framework illustrates how corpus evidence can encourage students to move beyond intuitive interpretations toward systematic, context-sensitive analysis. As this paper does not report an empirical classroom experiment, its findings are conceptual and methodological rather than statistically validated. The proposed model offers a foundation for future classroom implementation, assessment, and interdisciplinary research in European Studies
