Abstract

This article explores the concept of world literature (jahon adabiyoti) as a unifying force that connects diverse cultures through the power of storytelling. It examines the historical development of the idea of world literature from Goethe’s early vision to the modern globalized era. The paper discusses the diversity of voices, major literary traditions, and the essential role of translation in making literature accessible across languages. It also analyzes universal themes—such as love, identity, justice, and the search for meaning—that appear throughout world literature. Furthermore, it considers how digital technology and globalization have expanded literary exchange in the 21st century. Ultimately, the article argues that world literature serves as a bridge of empathy and understanding among nations.
