METHODS OF TRANSLATION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS: AN ANALYSIS BASED ON H. TOKHTABOEV'S "THE MAGIC HAT"

Abstract

This study explores the methods of translating phraseological units in H. Tokhtaboev's "The Magic Hat." It identifies key translation strategies, including direct translation, equivalent expressions, descriptive translations, calques, omissions, adaptations, and paraphrases. Each method's effectiveness is evaluated in terms of maintaining cultural significance and conveying meaning. The findings reveal that a nuanced understanding of both source and target languages is essential for successful translation. Ultimately, the study emphasizes the importance of flexibility and creativity in bridging linguistic and cultural gaps, ensuring that the essence of Tokhtaboev's work resonates with diverse audiences.
